Tableya started out as my 256th attempt at starting a blog.
Way back when blogging was still a novel phenomenon I thought it was the most genius idea ever thought up, until I actually tried to find something to write about. every. single.day.
No offense to those who have managed to keep blogging through the years, but I honestly couldn’t understand what they found to write about so often! My first blog went something like this: “Today I woke up and went to work. Um, I later saw my friends and drank some coke. I went home and argued with my brother about who got to use the bathroom first.” Ok, so keeping an online journal wasn’t my thing, so I considered blogging about my love life (too embarrassing), my friends’ lives (too scandalous), the meaning of life (let’s not go there) and politics (too chicken).
So I abandoned the whole idea and left it to my more blog-worthy friends who went through interestingly significant life experiences and emerged out of them with deep insights and opinions worth sharing with the world.
To make a very long story short, many, many years later I discovered food blogs! I fell in love with the whole idea of sharing recipes and pretty pictures of yummy dishes, and I thought to myself, “I like cooking and I need to get over my Blogophobia, so why not start my own?”
Over the past five years I cooked my way through marriage, infertility, pregnancy, loss, twins, new friendships, body image issues, three seasons of Masterchef Australia, and a seriously severe aversion to raw chicken. Making healthy, tasty dishes became a passion and I found myself wanting to share (and learn) more and more about that wonderful thing called food.
